If you are coming for the rodeo, sleep near the south or center Strip so the nightly 5:45 p.m. start is a short ride to the Thomas & Mack, and book early because the city sells out around the finals. If you are not, early December is still a good-value week as long as you avoid the rodeo hotels.

The event
The National Finals Rodeo is professional rodeo's season finale: ten rounds over ten consecutive nights at the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus, each performance starting at 5:45 p.m. The 2026 edition runs from Thursday, December 3 to Saturday, December 12.
Several nights carry a theme, from Golden Night on the first Saturday to Military Night, Canadian Night and the closing Patriot Night. Tickets are sold through the organiser's official AXS link, and the arena sells out.
How the city changes
For ten days Las Vegas turns western: hotel lobbies host viewing parties, the convention halls fill with gear and gift shows, and the casinos closest to the arena book out first. Early December is otherwise one of the city's quieter, cheaper weeks, so the contrast is sharp.
The Thomas & Mack sits east of the south-center Strip on Maryland Parkway. Rides from Strip hotels are short outside the pre-show hour; leave earlier than the map suggests on performance nights.
